Belfast Maternity Hospital

This week we where very proud to be specified on the new Belfast Maternity Hospital! The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust said “Many parts of the original Maternity Hospital building are aging and the accommodation is cramped for the numbers of women accessing the service. The current building is difficult and expensive to keep in an acceptable condition for us to deliver modern healthcare services. So it’s time to build again.”

The new hospital will support a modern service which will give women more choice about their care and the birth of their baby.

The Information on the build so far is as follows:

Where

The new Maternity Hospital is being built at the Royal Victoria Hospital site adjacent to the existing Maternity Hospital.  It will provide state-of-the art facilities for women and their babies.

When

Construction work will commence on the of the New Maternity Hospital in early 2018 and will be completed at the end of 2019.

What

The new hospital will provide the future for Maternity Services in Belfast. It will provide a welcoming and uplifting environment whist ensuring the safety of mothers and babies, from those without complications to those who require additional services and support

A new Midwife Led Unit is being created which will have  en-suite rooms, each with birthing pools. It will provide the safety of a hospital in a homely setting.

The delivery suite, obstetric theatres and the neonatal intensive care unit will all be based on one floor with easy access between one another.

We are looking forward to working on this project with our Irish ScreenLine Partner
